pre-ospe 4 cardio

the left ventricle lies anterior to the left atrium. it contributes to the anterior, diaphragmatic and left pulmonary surfaces of the heart and forms the apex. blood enters the ventricle through the left atrioventricular orifice and flows in a foward direction to the apex.

the chamber itself is conical, is longer than the right ventricle and has the thickest layer of myocardium. the outflow tract (the aortic vestibule) is posterior to the infundibulum of the right ventricle, has smooth walls, and is derived from the embryonic bulbus cordis.

will continue tomorrow, bubbye:)
